It wasn't until Laura went to the Johannesburg School of
the Arts at the age of 15 that she really felt alive. There she felt she could
express her deep thoughts and emotions freely through colour, paint, drawing
and sculpture. After graduating, Laura went on to become a graphic designer for
advertising agencies before transitioning into an illustrator.
At the age of 40, she took the giant
leap from commercial art to fine art and immersed herself in painting
everything from still-life to landscapes, urbanscapes and figures in various
mediums including watercolour, pastels, acrylics and airbrush mixed-media. But
where she really found herself naturally at ease was in portraiture, in which
she now specialises, with oils being her chosen medium.
Laura paints for numerous world-class
galleries in Cape Town and receives commissions from numerous international and
local clients. Laura teaches fundamentals and drawing and painting from her
studio in Cape Town.
