I portray the every day, and want the viewer to have a
sense of familiarity with my work. I
approach my paintings by matching the colour mixing to that of my subject and
combining it with expressive mark-making techniques. I have recently explored
the fragmented nature of colours and use layers of colour to build up shape. My
preferred medium is oil and alcohol inks on canvas or paper. My artwork
explores and deconstructs my experiences and lifestyle in South Africa – often
depicting nature scenes inspired by hiking, or people in my community and our
mundane moments.
I was born in Johannesburg in 1993 and received my BA in
Fine Artis at the University of Pretoria in 2015. After graduation, I moved to Cape Town, where
I joined Side Track Studios to pursue a career in the fine arts.
