Brett Shuman

Brett Shuman studied at the Cape Technikon, The Cape Town Institute of Art and the Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT. He worked as a set painter before joining a 3-D stop motion animation studio as set designer and painter. After the studio relocated to London, he began animating, designing puppet characters while continuing to design sets. He worked on a number of commercials, promos and music videos which included bands Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and Queen. Returning to South Africa he co-founded a 3-D stop motion animation studio in Cape Town. Specializing in clay and cel animation, mixed media stop-motion and pixilation, the studio produced five films commissioned by New York based Billy Budd Films along with 50 animated commercials. He left the film industry to focus on his passion for painting and currently lives and works in Riebeek West.
