Carin Dorrington

Carin obtained a Fine Art (Hons) Degree from Stellenbosch University after which she worked as an art teacher for 22 years. She currently lives and works as a full-time artist in Porterville.

Artist’s Statement

All my work is guided by having fun. The four floral vessels on this exhibition celebrate the spectacular beauty of Nature. They should bring joy and happy brightness into any living space. This is accomplished by applying vibrant, contrasting colours onto simple bold shapes reminiscent of children’s drawings. They are functional but can also stand on their own as decorative sculptures. By exhibiting these pieces, I hope to share a fraction of the joy I had in making
