My vision as an artist has always been to make beautiful items giving pleasure and contributing positively to life. Most of my work is hand built using coils or slabs and is of a sculptural nature. The forms are often functional, and can often be used as vases, containers or candle holders. Plant forms (particularly succulents), along with repetitive patterns found in leaf structures and seed pods, continue to be a strong feature in my latest work. Living in Hermanus (since 2014), between the sea and the mountains, nature is always my biggest source of inspiration. In recent years I have also started painting more regularly on canvas and paper. My paintings tend to be abstract which has helped me loosen up and work with clay in a more intuitive manner than before.
Diploma Ceramic Art (1976-9) B.Tech Ceramics degree (Wits Tech) in (2002 -3). Throughout my career I have continued to update my skills and to broaden my views through courses and workshops both locally, overseas and online. I have been a regular exhibitor at Ceramics SA Regional and National exhibitions, and my work is featured at several galleries in the Western Cape and the rest of South Africa, and in the UK.
