JP Meyer

JP Meyer was born in 1960. After military service he joined S.A.A. where he worked as an international flight attendant for 15 years. In 1996 he enrolled as a full-time art student at the Foundation School of Art in Cape Town, graduating four years later with a Diploma of Fine Art (Painting). His first solo exhibition was held at the AVA in Cape Town in 2003. Since then he has mounted 13 solo exhibitions, 10 joint exhibitions and participated in many group shows. His work is in the collections of SASOL, DIDATA, Rand Merchant Bank, Hollards, Nandos UK and McMillan Publishing. He currently lives and works in Porterville.

Artist’s Statement

The four paintings for JUST ANOTHER ROADSIDE ATTRACTION were inspired by Tattoo Flash Sheets and my love for colour. Flash sheets are tools used by tattoo artists to display their artworks in a curated way that looks appealing to people who want to get a tattoo
