Teresa Truda

Teresa Truda is an established South African visual artist and designer who operates an independent art practice from her home studio in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley. She completed her professional training at the Witwatersrand Technikon School of Art and Design, earning a National Higher Diploma. Prior to transitioning into fine art full-time, she spent several years managing turnkey projects in corporate and residential interior planning, an experience that strongly informed her current approach to spatial balance and form.
Truda works across multiple traditional and contemporary mediums to capture themes of memory and daily life. In her painting practice, she primarily utilizes oil on canvas to create still-life compositions featuring everyday domestic objects and family heirlooms, alongside a daily practice of mixed-media and watercolour sketching. Her portfolio extends into dimensional pieces, including hand-manipulated paper sculptures and textile art created with vintage fabrics. She also engages in community outreach by painting large-scale outdoor murals for Call2Care, a Cape Town-based non-profit organization focused on enhancing educational environments.
Her exhibition history includes participation in the Franschhoek Art Festival, the 3rd National Watermedia Exhibition, and the annual Stellenbosch Woordfees Town Hall Exhibition. In 2019, her documentary project #100daysofawakeningtheancestors was featured in Ideas Magazine. She regularly participates in curated group exhibitions, including Lush and Still Life Re-Imagined at RK Contemporary, as well as the annual Solo Studios event in Riebeek Kasteel. Her contemporary portfolio is permanently represented by Gallery 88 in Paarl and RK Contemporary.
